On the sixth day of Decemeber...
...Jack insisted he change the baby dolls "poopy" diaper...I consider this a Christmas miracle, Bryan calls it embarrassing...just look at how cute!

On the fifth day of December...
We popped some popcorn and watched a new special "Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice"
On the third day of December...
We went to a local restaurant out on Belton Lake, about 20 minutes from our house. The Dead Fish Grill was hosting their 4th Annual Lighted parade, which is when boats get all decorated and sail around the lake.
I must say that this was the first day of a cold snap of weather and the first of 3 straight days of rain! Thankfully we got there at the right time and were able to get a table at the window overlooking the lake.
The boats were fabulous...the pictures not so much. you have to trust me that it was pretty cool!

On the second day of December..
The kids got a special book of the Story of Christmas that is magically read to them by Mammy and Kip!
These books are amazing!!! We used them last year when Bryan was deployed and the kids could listen to him read them stories, and now they can have their grandparents read them one too!
After the book we made our popcorn and watched the first of many TV specials of the season..
.."The Elf on the Shelf" which is a new one this year. After watching it I asked Rory if she thought it would be a good idea for us to get an Elf and she promptly said "No". I asked why, and she said that last year we had Private Elf (who was an Elf on the Shelf that Santa lends out to kids who Dads have to go away and they send messages to the Dads instead of Santa.) Rory said that she just like Private Elf, and she didn't want to trouble Santa for another one. What a kid!

Our Compassionate Kid
Rory was nominated by her teacher for an award at school that recognized students who demonstrated compassion.
This is what her teacher wrote about Rory in her nomination,
"Rory is a very compassionate stunt. She always cares for the well being of others. Rory smiles and gives hugs to others that are not feeling well. She politely informs me if someone is not having a good day. She takes out special time to make others feel special by making uplifting cards. Rory displays what it means to be compassionate!"
I was so proud of my girl when she was surprised by this award! I guess this was the blessing of Brendan bursting his ear drum and having to postpone the surgery, because I was able to be at the ceremony which is quite the big deal at her school.
She also has a pretty cool Aunt and Uncle who knew that the award ceremony was going to be on the same day as Brendan's surgery, and that Mom couldn't be in 2 places at once. To make sure that Rory knew how proud everyone was of her they sent her flowers...she was beyond delighted!

Ahh...the joys of winter
We managed to make it through Thanksgiving break without anyone getting sick, until Saturday night. The first victim of the bug was poor Brendan.
Brendan was scheduled to go into surgery to get his third set of ear tubes to alleviate the fluid build up in the ears that was decreasing his hearing level. Well, let me just say that Brendan has a way of doing things is own way, and this day was no different, poor kid burst his own ear drum and got a good case of the croup while he was at it.
Surgery has been postponed and we had to do steroid treatments to help with the croup. Good thing Brendan has siblings who love him and are always willing to help.
